2 cups white rice or w/e rice you want
4 /12 cups water
2 lbs ground pork or smoked sausage ropes (keilbasa)
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 small yellow onion chopped fine
1/4 -1/2 tsp good cayenne powder
2 tsp powdered sage
2 tsp salt divided
2 tsp pepper divided
2 tbsp butter
*Depending on how spicy you like your food you may need more seasonings.
brown your sausage, season with salt and pepper and sage.
add to a big 4 quart pot with a lid.
add water, rice and the rest of the seasonings
saute the onions for 5 minutes then add garlic at the end and saute for about 1 minute.
add 2 tbsp butter or oil of choice, trust me butter is way better:P
add the onions and garlic to the pot and cover with a lid and set on low/med for 20-25 minutes. DO NOT life the lid until 20 minutes is up.
when 20 minutes is up open lid ( make sure you open it away from you. Even though ive done this for years i still catch myself opening it up towards me or straight up.)
fluff, adjust seasonings and serve.
