- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (with a little extra for dusting)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 stick cold, cubed butter
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a food processor, pulse the flour, baking powder, sugar, baking soda and salt together.
- Add in the cold, cubed butter and pulse until the mixture is crumbly.
- Transfer the mixture to a large bowl and fold in the buttermilk until the mixture is moist.
- Sprinkle some flour onto a work surface and lightly knead the dough and form into a ball.
- Gently roll out the dough into a round shape. Using a round biscuit cutter, cut the dough into biscuits. Place the biscuits onto a baking sheet.
- Bake the biscuits for 12 minutes until they are lightly golden brown.
